We all have our morning routines that for some, run like clockwork. How we start our day should be intentional and purposeful. As believers we don’t want to approach the day with a “let’s see what happens” attitude. In the fourth Psalm, King David gives a blueprint on how a child of God should start the day. King David said, “In the morning thou dost hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for thee, and watch” (Psalm 4:3).
For every person your mornings, based on your schedules, may look different. However, whether you are starting your day or ending it, you should see the Lord’s hand over your journey. Let’s look at King David’s admission to the Lord. He is confident that the Lord hears his voice when he wakes. After all, it is the Lord who gives us our rest. Did you wake up knowing that the Lord is waiting to hear from you?
The King goes on to say that in the morning he prepares a sacrifice to the Lord. Not only prepares a sacrifice, but watches. Our sacrifice is not the blood of bulls and goats, but it should be commitment, dedication, thanksgiving, and all other personal offerings to the Lord.
Stop and make a commitment today, that every morning you will speak to the Lord and offer our God a prepared sacrifice. The Lord is waiting for your sacrifice. Is it to love more? How about focusing on your growth in a particular area of your spiritual life? No matter if it’s a king or child, remember when the morning comes, prepare to offer the Lord your best! Didn’t God give us his best?
God's peace,
