Brothers and Sisters,
The story of David is very compelling! David was in the field keeping the sheep when Samuel sent for him (1 Samuel 16:11). When Samuel saw David, the Lord said, "Arise, anoint him; for this is he." However, after David was anointed to be king over Israel, he wasn’t given the crown and had the people cheering for him right away. His rise to the throne came with challenges and heartaches.
Stop and think for a moment, when you hear certain names (Abraham, Joseph, Moses, and even preachers of our times) we tend to think about their triumphs and not what it took for them to be known for their acts. We can even add KFC, Disneyland, Washington DC to the list! We know of their success, but do we often think about what they had to endure to achieve their status. Hebrews 11, "faith chapter" gives an insight into how great men and women struggled and died but obtained God's favor.
David was anointed and it took years (seven) before he became king over all Israel. You may have started a business, gotten a new job, looking for the next chapter of life, experiencing poor health, in a crisis, thinking about marriage, and everything else under the sun. Remember, like David, you were anointed, but there are other chapters in your book of testimonies that are to be written. Live each day that the Lord gives you, knowing you have been called, but the finished product is on hold. On hold, but not on the sideline!
God's grace,
